The Paleo Rodeo #214

By Diana Hsieh

Welcome to this week's edition of The Paleo Rodeo!

The Paleo Rodeo is a weekly blog carnival featuring the best paleo-related posts by members of the PaleoBloggers e-mail list. The past editions of the Rodeo are collected on this page.

What is "paleo"? As I say in Modern Paleo Principles:

A "paleo" approach to health uses the evolutionary history of homo sapiens, plus the best of modern science, as a broad framework for guiding daily choices about diet, fitness, medicine, and supplementation. The core of paleo is the diet: it eschews grains, sugars, and modern vegetable oils in favor of high-quality meat, fish, eggs, and vegetables.
The purpose of The Paleo Rodeo is to highlight some of the best blogging of the ever-growing paleosphere.

Here is this week's edition:
Ruth presents Paleo Nectarine and Berry Delight posted at Paleo Diet Basics, saying, "My favorate paleo desserts are those that were paleo from the get-go, not paleo versions of cakes and cookies. This is a good example!"

Sabine presents 5 Common Paleo Misconceptions posted at Cave Food Kitchen, saying, "A paleo muffin is still a muffin, and bacon isn't paleo by default either!"

Eileen presents Southern Fried Apples posted at Phoenix Helix, saying, "Prior to developing rheumatoid arthritis, I stopped at Cracker Barrel on every road trip. My favorite meal was pot roast with gravy, a double order of hash brown casserole, and fried apples. Sigh…to remember the convenience of restaurant meals where I could order anything on the menu. Now, Cracker Barrel is no longer an option, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy some of those favorite flavors at home. Here's my re-creation of skillet fried apples. It's easy, delicious, and you don't have to be on the road, to enjoy it."

Meghanne Reburn presents Eat your boogers, Spanish sunshine and Reflections on Motherhood posted at CaveGirl Plus One, saying, "Meghanne returns this week with a link to some cool research that's been floating around the interweb that discusses optimal gut colonization in your healthy infant. She's been crazy busy and just returned from a climbing trip to Spain and shares some photos and reflections on motherhood."

Kris Gunnars presents 4 “Heart Healthy” Foods That Can Clog Your Arteries (#4 is Worst) posted at Authority Nutrition, saying, "These 4 commonly consumed foods are often considered to be 'heart healthy," but they may actually be doing more harm than good."

Kevin Geary presents Explain Leaky Gut Syndrome Like I'm Five posted at Rebooted Body - Ancestral Science and Modern Psychology, saying, "Leaky Gut Syndrome, aka Intestinal Permeability, is a condition where the gut is damaged, allowing 'bad guys" into the blood stream. Here's how it works..."

Nell Stephenson presents An Online Farmer's Market? posted at Paleoista, by Nell Stephenson, saying, "Paleo Expert Nell Stephenson shares information about the new Harvest Your Health eMarket."
